H. Keating

GRANBURY — H.B. Keating, 76, of Granbury passed away October 27, 2013 in his home.
Service: 2:00 PM, Friday, November 1, 2013, Lakeside Baptist Church, Granbury. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park, Granbury, Texas. Visitation: 6:00-8:00 PM, Thursday at the funeral home.
Mr. Keating was born October 26, 1937 in Provo, Arkansas to Hiram Valentine and Verna Hill Keating. At 18, H.B. moved from rural Arkansas to Dallas. He worked at TP&L and attended UTA part-time, where he later earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics. It was in Dallas where he met his one true love, Charline Smith. H.B. and Charline were married on January 13, 1962 in Gladewater, Texas. He worked 41 years at the power company where he started in the mail room, became the their first computer programmer, and rose through the ranks to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer of Texas Utilities until he retired in 1997. At work, he was known as a demanding but compassionate boss, friend, and mentor. H.B. and Charline were members of Lakeside Baptist Church, Granbury. H.B. was very devoted to church. He was a Sunday school teacher, served as Chairman of the Deacons, and served on countless committees throughout his lifetime. He was an avid golfer who loved to travel, and his work allowed him the opportunity to enjoy both of these on occasion. Above all, however, H.B. was a devoted and loving husband, father, and friend. More than anything else, he loved to spend time with his family and friends. He always coached his children’s sports teams, and provided encouragement and advice to his children and grandchildren in life both on and off the field. He cherished his family and friends. Nothing made him happier than to have the entire family gathered together under one roof.
H.B. was preceded in death by his parents, Hiram V. and Verna Keating, Sister and her husband, Wilma and Bruce Davis, and nephew, Russell Jones.
Survivors: Wife: Charline Keating. Children: Wayne and Marynelle Keating, Lisa and Erik Barnes, Ron and Suni Keating. Grandchildren: Kyle, Kevin, Klint, and Kaylee Keating, Ronny and Jack Keating, Zoey Barnes, Brittny Dorsett, Ivan and Kate Barnes. Great Grandson: Owyn Barnes. Sister: Virginia and Edward Jones, and several nieces and nephews.
