Herbert Trenton Earnest, 90 years old, passed away on January 24, 2022, in the morning. Herb was born to Leland R. Earnest and Eula Jessie Earnest (Rosebrough) on August 26, 1931, in Tampa, Florida; he was one of four sons. Herb grew up in Florida and played in various high school bands, including gaining first chair clarinet, as well as being a member of ROTC. He graduated from Hillsborough High School in 1948. Following high school, Herb pursued his love of aeronautics and joined the Florida Air National Guard. He later obtained a position with Bell Helicopter. While at Bell Helicopter, he traveled extensively within the United States and internationally. In 1964-1965, he was sent to Chu Lai, Vietnam as a company technical representative. Herb’s proudest accomplishment at Bell Helicopter was his work on the team that developed and produced the V-22 Osprey. After 30 years, Herb retired from Bell and moved to Granbury, Texas. He loved gardening and cooking for his family. He became a member of the American Legion and made many friends there. Herb is survived by his wife Natalie, and his children, Terrie K. Mikus, Sandra E. Lloyd and James Lloyd (his son-in-law), David Earnest, stepsons, Jeffrey Maynard and Jon Maynard and his grandchildren Darrell Lotton and Stephen Lloyd.
Services will be held at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, 400 Highway 377, Granbury, Texas on January 31, 2022, Monday at 11:00 a.m.
