Hoang Dinh Lam, loving husband, father, and friend to many, passed from this life on December 1, 2021.
Visitation: 2:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Biggers Funeral Home, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth, Texas 76135
Hoang was born in Saigon Vietnam on November 10, 1954. He was a stellar student and was drafted into the South Vietnamese Air Force and was sent to training at Lackland Airforce Base in San Antonio, Texas, United State of America in 1973. In 1975 he was back in Vietnam serving the military when the U.S. pulled out of Vietnam.
After the fall of Saigon, he became an English teacher and met his sweetheart, Nhung Thi Nguyen and married her on March 30, 1993. In 1994, they were blessed with a son, Nhan Hoang Lam, and in 1999 a daughter, Nghi Hoang Lam.
In 2002, Hoang and Nhung decided that if the family migrated to the United States, it would give their children advantages not available in Saigon. Thus started their twenty-year effort to migrate with Hoang and Nhan leaving in 2002 and Nghi in 2011. Nhung brought the entire family together when she was finally able to join the family on March 16, 2019. During this time Hoang worked hard at many jobs that were physically taxing and always tried to give his family and children the best he could. In 2009 he became a certified Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician. He worked in this field until he retired in 2019.
Their dream of opportunity for their children was realized through great sacrifice and time spent separated. He lived to see his family together in a nice home with both his children having graduated college.
Hoang was a talented candle maker. His wedding candles were intricately designed with cultural dragons and Phoenix. He gave joy to many through the years with his candle art. He was an avid fisherman and gardener. As a fisherman he would stay up through the night visiting the prime fishing locations to successfully reel in the many fish his family enjoyed eating along with the fruit and vegetables from the gardens he grew.
Hoang was very handy and kept his home and cars in good repair through his skills acquired throughout his life. He often would come to the rescue of friends and help them as well. He valued family and friendship more than earthly possessions. Often he risked his own wellbeing for the needs of others as a loyal and caring friend. While his worldly possessions were unimportant to him, he left this world rich in what mattered most to him, with many loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Vui Thi Tran
Hoang is survived by his wife, Nhung Thi Nguyen; son, Nhan Hoang Lam; daughter, Nghi Hoang Lam; brother, Minh Van Lam.
