Ida Jenkins Florey

GRANBURY — Ida Jenkins Florey was born in Monroeville, Alabama on July 5, 1927. She was the only child of John Leslie Wiggins and Monnie Inez Kizer Wiggins.
Jinx finished Monroe County High School as a member of Beta Club (honor club), band member and a majorette of the band.
At the University of Alabama, Jinx was a member of Alpha Phi (social sorority), the Spirit Club and has kept a memorial gift to the Capstone Engineering Society in honor of Wilson Andress Florey, whom she married on December 31, 1949. The wedding was held at the First Baptist Church in Monroeville, Alabama.
Wilson and Jinx had three daughters, Leslie F. Cook (E. Coy Cook), Louise F. Reid (John Bradley Reid) and Laura Florey (Johnny Bratton) They also had one son, Wilson Andress Florey II (Dawn R. Florey)
Wilson retired from P and G after 36 years and he died in 1995.
Jinx taught first grade in Atlanta, Georgia, Memphis, Tennessee and Fort Worth, Texas. She went back to college to get her Early Childhood degree so that she could teach all day Kindergarten in the FWISD.
Jinx received a scholarship to study the British Infant School System in England.
After teaching, Jinx volunteered at Cook children’s Hospital from 1980 until the first of 2009. While at Cook’s, Jinx was a Golden Heart and the Community Volunteer of the Year in 2000.
Wilson and Jinx leave their family of 8 wonderful Grandchildren and their mates plus 12 fantastic great-grandchildren.
Life has been good. Jinx believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that the afterlife will be Heavenly.
There will be no funeral as Jinx requested because she said, “I had kind words, love and flowers while I was alive so that I could enjoy them.”
All of our children and in-law children, our grandchildren and in-law-grandchildren and our youngest great-grandchildren are to know and remember that we loved each of them with our thoughts, love and prayers.”
