FRANKLIN, TENN — J.R. McCoy, 98, of Franklin, Tenn., passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2015 in Franklin.
Graveside service: 11:00 AM, Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the Nancy Smith Cemetery, Glen Rose, Texas.
Mr. McCoy was born July 2, 1917, Chalk Mountain in Somervell County, Texas to Virgil and Ethel McCoy. He graduated from Albany High School and served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII with the 793rd Bomber Squadron in the Asian Theater. J.R. married Lorraine Dorothy Basford on June 12, 1943 in Hondo, Texas. She preceded him in death on April 4, 2006.
J.R. was a stationary engineer for General Dynamics having lived in Fort Worth, Texas for 56 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
Survived by: Children – Lala Ann Nichols, Joni Zoe McCoy, and Jim Rory McCoy. Grandsons – Michael Patrick O’Brien, Sean Kevin O’Brien, and Jake Riley McCoy. Great Grandsons – Seven Kiah O’Brien and Koit Denman O’Brien.
