James Allen Bursey

GRANBURY — James Allen Bursey, 94, departed this life, Friday, May 2, 2014.
Cryptside service: 11 a.m. Tuesday in Greenwood Memorial Park in Fort Worth.
James was born Dec. 1, 1919, in Fort Worth. He graduated from Arlington Heights High School in 1938 and married his high school sweetheart, Dorothy Waddell, the same year. He attended North Texas Agricultural College in Arlington and graduated with a degree in aeronautical engineering. He served his country during World War II as a member of the 8th Air Force. He flew combat missions as a top turret gunner and flight engineer in a B-17 in the European theater. James was an engineer for Campbell Taggart Associated Bakeries and retired after 34 years. He was a longtime member of the 50/50 Sunday School Class at Acton United Methodist Church. James volunteered many years at People Helping People.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Survivors: Wife, Dorothy; daughters, Dorthy Ann Kneisel and Donna Allene Bursey; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue Bursey; brother-in-law, Jack Cameron; five nieces; three nephews.
