James H. “Slim” Curry
GRANBURY — James H. “Slim” Curry, 88, passed away Friday, March 7, 2014 in Granbury. Service: 2 p.m. Tuesday at Holly Hills Mausoleum Chapel in Granbury. Burial: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Memorials: Mission Hospice or Trinity Mission.
James was born Sept. 13, 1925 in Haynesville, LA. to John Ruel and Cordie McDonald Curry. He married Madalyn Haskins on May 15, 1946 in Price, TX. She passed away March 26, 2013. They were a members of College Avenue Baptist Church in Levelland and had lived there for 38 years before moving to Granbury in 1994. James served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of WWII. Slim retired as a field supervisor in the Sundown area from Amoco Oil Corp. after 33 years of service. He was a Little League umpire in Levelland for 11 years. He was a member of the Granbury Masonic Lodge #392 and had been a Mason for 53 years. Slim was a avid woodworker and touched many people with his artistic ability in building bird houses, crosses, etc. The family would like to thank Trinity Mission Nursing Home and Mission Hospice for the loving care of James and his family.
