James Leaton Clark

James Leaton Clark, 86, of Granbury and formerly of Austin, Texas rejoined his wife and met his Lord on September 4, 2021 after an extended illness. The family will have a private graveside service in Austin, Texas.

Leaton was born April 16, 1935 in Hereford, Texas to James Oren Clark and Leatrus Gladis Walser Clark. Leaton graduated from Hereford High School and the University of Texas in Austin. He married Wanda Merle Block on September 2, 1954 in Dumas, Texas.

Leaton was a pharmacist for over 50 years having worked at Walgreen Drug in Plainview, Skaggs Drug in Amarillo, his own pharmacy in Amarillo, State of Texas Vendor Drug Program in Amarillo, Brown Schools in Austin, Ace Drug Mart in Austin, and Eckerd Drug in Austin.

Leaton loved music and played the organ and piano, served as minister of music in several churches, and was a member of the Singing Men of South Texas. Leaton was very involved in family genealogy for many years and had many binders of family history in his office. He also had a green thumb and grew beautiful bromeliads and orchids.

Preceded in death by his parents Jim and Leatrus Clark, his brother Richard Clark, and his wife Wanda Clark.

Survived by his children, LeWana Clark and Barbara Jean “BJ” Wood, Barry and Rhonda Clark, Lance Clark and Becky Wimberly. His grandchildren, Brooke Clark, Melissa and Zeke Dorr, Brittany Figueroa, Macie and Cody Rollins. His great grandchildren, Cristiano, Daniel, Eliana Figueroa, Clark and Nicholas Dorr, Callie and Sadie Rollins.

In lieu of flowers, it is the request of Leaton’s family for you to gather your family and take them out to your favorite catfish parlor and order every one “all you can eat popcorn shrimp”. This was Leaton and Wanda’s favorite meal.
