GRANBURY — James O. Fortson, 79, passed away Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014 in Fort Worth. Service: 10 a.m. Saturday at Lakeside Baptist Church. Interment: 3 p.m. Saturday in Cedar Point Cemetery in Cedar Point. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury.
James was born Feb. 12, 1935 in Brookesmith to James Vardomen Fortson and Ethel Olene Underwood Fortson. He married Sherry Kay Smith on Feb. 26, 1960 in Lovington, N.M. James served in the U.S. Army and was a die cast foreman for Harrison Jet Guns for 36 years. He was a member of Lakeside Baptist Church and a devoted Christian. James was an artist, made carvings out of wood, a taxidermist, sculpture artist, painter, rancher, gardener and square dancer. He was a great husband and father.
Survivors: Wife of 55 years, Sherry Fortson; sons and wives, Mike and Paula Fortson, Steve and Sylvia Fortson and Bobby and Brandi Fortson; grandchildren, Mollie Fortson, Jami Fortson, Jayson Fortson, Garrett Fortson and Kylie Fortson; great grandchild, Cali Fortson; sisters, Louise Schleicher and Dorothy Manning.
