James Richard (Dick) Caudle passed away Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home outside of Lipan, Texas after an extended illness. Service: 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 12, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Granbury, Interment: Evergreen Cemetery, Lipan, Visitation: 5:00 PM-7:00 PM, Friday, December 11, 2020, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
He was born March 27, 1943 in Fort Stockton, Texas and was the son of Claude W. and Ruby May Caudle. Dick is survived by his wife Charla Kay Parker whom he married in 1990. He is also survived by his brother Bob Caudle of Allen, Texas, and four nieces, Kristi Lynn Crafton of Rogers, Arkansas, Kerri Snow Wiggins of Snook, Texas, Kristi Lea Langley of Gilmer, Texas and Rebecca Anne Kinnear of Allen, Texas.
Dick graduated from Castleberry High School in Fort Worth in 1961 and attended Arlington State College. He was a 1983 graduate of the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Academy with a Texas Peace Officer’s Certification. He also earned an advanced Peace Officer’s Certification from Dallas Baptist University in 1988.
Dick spent over thirty years in law enforcement in Tarrant, Parker and Hood Counties. He was a dedicated peace officer whose only flaw was a body that had failed him from the time he was twelve years old leading him to multiple surgeries throughout his life and many occasions when it appeared he would not live; but his will to live was stronger than the never-ending series of health issues he faced.
