“Dickie” Glaze, 68, loving father and brother, went Home to be with his Lord and Savior on June 2, 2018 after his long and hard fought battle with cancer.
Services will be held at 11am on Saturday June 9, 2018 at Ash Creek Baptist Church, located at 300 S. Stewart Street, Azle, TX. Family visitation will be held prior to the service starting at 10am. A private family burial will be at Bethel Cemetery in Decatur, TX, where he will be laid to rest next to his infant daughter. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or the Azle Hornet Booster Club.
Dickie was born April 13, 1950 in Weatherford, Parker County, Texas, to “Rich” and Leota Glaze. He was a pillar of the Azle community where he resided for 65 years, and was a graduate of the Azle High Class of 1969.
Dickie was a very skilled carpenter by trade, and took part in the building of many homes in and around the Azle area where his craftsmanship still stands strong today. He also worked many years for the Azle Independent School District in the Athletic Department. After retirement, he was very active in the Azle Hornet Booster Club. Dickie met and married the love of his life, Becky Dickey in 1970. Although they divorced after 16 years of marriage and four children, Becky remained his lifelong friend and cared for him during his illness.
He was preceded in death by infant daughter, Traci Sue Glaze; his parents James Richard Glaze and Leota Elizabeth Carter Glaze; and brother, Jimmie Don Glaze.
Dickie is survived by his sister, Carolyn Sue Smith and her husband, Max Smith of Azle, TX; children, Lori Glaze Scroggins of Stockdale, TX, Amy Glaze Suddeath of Azle, TX, and Brent Glaze of Decatur, TX; 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren who will dearly miss their “Candyman”; along with a multitude of relatives, friends and the Azle Hornet Community.
