As a Sr. Master Sergeant, James retired with honors from active duty in the US Air Force in 1974. His highly respected public service as a Civil Engineer then continued as he dedicated another 17 years to Civil Service for the USAF in Dover, Delaware. James moved his cherished bride to Texas in 1995 to be closer to their newest grandbaby and family. He loved music, played the piano and harmonica, and always shed a tear while listening to his granddaughter, Crista play her violin. All who knew James remember him for his kind heart, loving spirit, and unwavering devotion to his family and friends. Always caring for others far more than him, he was truly a wonderful example of Christ-like love.
James is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years of marriage, Shirley; his daughter, Jenita Guthrie and husband, Mike and their daughter, Crista and son, Andy; Chinese daughter, Sinan Wang; his son, Mark Hubbard and wife, Jennifer, and their respective children, David, Sarah, and Kevin; his daughter, Kathy Murray and her husband, Larry, and their children, Lucinda, Mary, James, Michael, Duane, and Caleb, their 9 grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild.
In recognition of James’ 14-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease, we request contributions to benefit Silver Gardens. James’ Caregivers loved and cared for him as if he were their own father. Words alone cannot express our gratitude for the tender love and quality care he received the last 2 years of his very difficult decline. The Silver Gardens owners are tremendously involved with our local, state and national organizations for Alzheimer’s, dementia care, and education for caregivers and for loved ones of those with dementia, in addition to running their two Dallas care homes.
Thank you for supporting Alzheimer’s care:
