GRANBURY — Jean Robertson, 82, passed away at her home Thursday, Oct. 9, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury. Interment: Granbury Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials can be made to the Scholarship funds of the Hood County Livestock Raisers Association and the American Chuck Wagon Association.
She was born Bobbie Jean Williams on May 9, 1932 in Cleburne to Roy and Anna Mae Williams. She was raised on the family farm outside of Sand Flat and graduated from Grandview High School in 1950.
Jean married Lynn Robertson in 1954 in Granbury where she continued to live for the next 60 years. She was known for her work ethic. In the 1950’s she commuted to the Fort Worth Stockyards where she worked for several Livestock Commission companies, while at night keeping books and preparing taxes for the public. She worked as an office manager for construction engineering companies during the work on the Lake Granbury Dam and Comanche Peak Nuclear Power Plant. She operated her own business, which included a peanut buying operation at the Granbury Rail Depot where she bought peanuts from local farmers and shipping them out by rail. Her true business calling was her bail bonding business that required her attention around the clock for more than 20 years.
While always busy she had a passion for the Granbury community and always made the time to serve wherever she was needed–from room mom at school to Chairman of the Cemetery Board to Granbury City Councilwoman. She seemed to have unending energy and had projects going all over town.
Her true love was her family and making every holiday and birthday special. Her cooking skills were well known and she spent many hours looking for or creating that next great recipe to share with friends and family.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Lynn Robertson; her parents, Roy and Anna Mae Williams; and her brothers, Tobie and Kenneth Williams.
She was survived by her son, Homer Robertson; grandson, Ty Robertson; her brother, Charlie Williams of Fort Worth; and many nieces and nephews.
