Jeffrey Gaines Proffitt, 50, a loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully Thursday November 26, 2015, surrounded by the love of his family after a long battle with cancer.
A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday November 28 in Biggers Funeral Chapel.
Jeff was born February 24, 1965 in Lovington, New Mexico to J. Gaines Proffitt and Shirley Ann Brown. He played football for PHS and graduated in 1983. He went on to get his Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Technology from UTPB. He married the love of his life, Lisa Proffitt, on April 4, 1986 and had two beautiful daughters who he absolutely adored. He was a Sales Engineer for Ingersoll Rand in Fort Worth.
Jeff not only loved his family, he loved life. He was loved by everyone he met and was bigger than life itself. He had a personality that could light up a room and knew how to make people smile.
Some have described him as “Men like him are few and far between.” He was an inspiration and a role model to so many people and a great example of how to have fun and live life to the fullest each day. His signature gift of love and joy, shown through his constant laughter, joking around and playing tricks on people, will never be forgotten. His heart of gold was only matched by him being a pillar of strength throughout his battle.

Jeff is survived by his loving wife of 29 years, Lisa; his daughters, Courtney Heap and Stephanie Mainka, son-in-laws, Blake Heap and Stephen Mainka; He is also survived by two beautiful grandchildren, Jackson Heap and Abby Heap; Also by his mother, Shirley Martin; sister Paula Smith; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins
