John was born November 11, 1933 in Indianola, OK to Herbert and Viola Brister. He served our nation in the U.S. Navy for over 22 years. John married Gwendolyn McRay and together they had two children. Herbert “Herb” Brister who is now married to Syndie; and daughter Karan Rollins. John was away from home for 9 months at a time, so when he returned he made the most of it. The family traveled, camped and fished. Gwendolyn passed in 2013; he also lost his son in-law, Coy Rollins. He loved to garden and be outdoors with the grandchildren, Tiffany Brister, Melody Brister, John Herbert Brister, and Callie Rollins. John also has great grandchildren, Charlotte Arizmendi, Abigail Crider; brothers Harold Brister, Jerry Brister and wife Emme; sister Mary Dunlap; and many extended family members.
