LIPAN — Ltc. John Paul Ford, 79, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 17. He died from a weak heart from a leg amputation last December.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Thursday, Mar. 20, 2014, at Lipan Church of Christ. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery in Lipan. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Chapel in Lipan.
John was born Nov. 29, 1934, in Lipan, to Jack and Leona Madge Stacy Ford. He married Mary Daphne Darby, Mar. 13, 2010, in Dallas. John was a military man who served in the Army for his country; he was a political activist who volunteered for many positions in the Republican Party; and he was a strong Christian who taught Sunday School at Rocky Point Baptist Church. John was an educated man who received two Masters Degrees from Tarleton and from Texas Tech and he was the author of several engineering textbooks.
Survivors: Wife, Mary Daphne; his sister, Beauton Tipton and husband, Vern; his three nieces: Judy Walker, Jane York, and Joyce Tipton; several cousins; and several second nieces and nephews.
