Remembering John R. Stickle
A wonderful husband, a precious father, and a friend to many people. He will forever and lovingly be remembered by his wife Carole of 52 years, his 9 children, 20 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his parents, his only brother, and two grandchildren.
John was born in Decatur, IL in 1943 and born again to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ his savior in 1970. From that time on, his greatest desire was for his family and others to come to a saving relationship with Christ.
Totally dedicated to his family, he did whatever he could with his talented hands and business sense to provide increasingly better opportunities for them. Whether he was fixing cars or driving a cement truck, working with Carole to mind their convenience stores or run their HVAC business, or remodeling and repairing their rental units, he never missed work, even when sick.
We will all remember him as a simple dresser, comfortable in his denim shirts, t-shirts, and jeans, the baseball caps of his younger years traded in for the western hats you would always see him in, particularly in his adopted and beloved Texas home. John spent his final couple of years as a country boy, driving his tractor, tending his land, and feeding the wild foxes that visited him daily.
We will miss you, sweet man!
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing (2 Timothy 4:7-8).
