A Celebration of J.W.’s life: 1:00 pm, Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at Biggers Funeral Chapel, 6100 Azle Ave., Lake Worth, Texas.
Interment: Laurel Land Memorial Park
Visitation: Family will receive friends from noon until service time
J.W. worked 55 years as an aluminum window and door installer. He enjoyed drag racing. He won the 9th Annual World Drag Racing Championship in his class in 1963 at the Green Valley Raceway. In 1983 Car Craft magazine nominated the team as All-Star Drag Racing Team of the Year. J.W. was honored in 1987 to be inducted into the National Hot Rod Association Drag Racing Hall of Fame in Division Four. He received Sportsman Wrench of the Year in 1987 and the Texas Senate presented a Senate Resolution to the Claridge Racing Team for their contribution to the sport of drag racing.
The family would like to extend loving gratitude to all who were so supportive during J.W.’s illness.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda; son, John Jr. and his wife, Linda; grandson, Brandon; and close friends, Robert Turner, Roy Thieme and his family.
