Joy Brooks, 85, of Glen Rose, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. Graveside service: 2:00 PM, Tuesday, November 20, 2018, Squaw Creek Cemetery, Visitation: 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, November 19, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Glen Rose. Memorials may be made to Somervell County Cancer Society.

Joy was born on October 2, 1933 in Glen Rose, Texas to Dennis and Bethel Martin. She worked as a professional secretary and she loved what she did for a living. She was driven and independent.

Joy married Thomas Edward Brooks on September 12, 1953. She loved her family dearly. She immensely enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joy was active and well known in the community. She was involved with the Somervell County Cancer Society and the Daughters of the Confederacy. In her spare time, Joy enjoyed traveling.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents: Beth and Dennis “Buck” Martin, husband: Tom Brooks, and sister: Janis “Bob” Gartrell.

Joy is survived by her children: Donna Lewellen and husband Mike, and Damon Brooks and wife Reta, grandchildren: Marty Starnes and wife Shannon, Tommy Starnes, Matthew Brooks and wife Tiffany, Denena Simpson and husband D.L., Tammy Keltner and husband Shane, and Dillon Imboden and wife Amanda, 15 great-grandchildren, siblings: Jo Anne West, Johnny Martin and Jeanette Day, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
