Billie Stephenson left a message on September 27, 2018:
Back in the 1970s June and I were both living in Abilene, TX and working for a man who was a second generation oil man and owner of the company where we worked. This was a two-girl office and we enjoyed working there together. We were having a very calm and peaceful day getting a lot of work done in the empty office, when suddenly our peace was disturbed by our boss rushing through the door with a big map in his hand. As he passed June’s desk he motioned for her to follow him over to my desk. Dusty put the map on my desk and slowly began to unroll it. We could see it was a new street map of the Stonegate development directly across the street from our current office. Dusty was pointing to a street, which was the first street in Stonegate and he STUNNED June and me with his words when he said, “This street will be named for the two of you. It will be named Billie-June Street.” We were both totally stunned and speechless. I could not imagine anyone ever giving me a gift so grand and I had no idea what to do or say. So as usual for me, I decided to buy some time with a bit of humor while I tried to think of an appropriate thank you. So I said to Dusty, “But Dusty, we would each want our own street.” Now, that was intended as a big joke that we would laugh about for a moment and then we would be ready with the biggest “Thank You” we could give. But my remark must have come across all wrong, because Dusty rolled up the map and out the door he and the map went. My big mouth had just ruined it all. That street is now named Flintrock Dr. We continued working together and with Dusty for several years to come.

Just heard of June's passing. We were in the same class of 1951 in Santa Anna. Enjoyed her friendship through the years and always at reunions. Sympathy and love to you all, her family.
