Kathy Gilbert

Kathy LaJuan Gilbert, 60, passed away on Wednesday, May 16, 2018. Visitation: 3:00 PM – 6:00 PM, Saturday, May 19, 2018, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
Kathy was born on July 12, 1957 in Anahuac, Texas to J.F. and JoAnn Abshier. She met Ray Gilbert at a dance and they got married two weeks later. She loved spending time with her family.
Kathy loved children and was a preschool teacher for more than 10 years at First Baptist Church and Lakeside Baptist Church. She was a teacher’s aide and a substitute teacher at Granbury ISD for more than five years. She left teaching to spend more time with her grandchildren.
Kathy loved God and had a strong faith. She was a songwriter in her spare time, and she wrote 27 Christian songs. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
Kathy is survived by his husband: Ray Gilbert, children: Christina Gilbert and wife Teresa, Melody Gilbert and fiancé Ryon Sonders, and Shanina Gilbert, grandchildren: Daylen, Joseph, Robert , Cassandra, Harley, Dominic, Harmony, Cynthia, Patricia, Kylie , R.J. and one on the way, siblings: Rita Sue Tilley, and Billy Wayne Abshier, and numerous nieces and nephews.
