Kathy S. Pruitt

Kathy S. Pruitt passed away peacefully in her sleep April 8, 2022, at her home at the age of 71 in Glen Rose, Texas after an extended illness.

The visitation will be 2-4pm, Tuesday,  April 12, 2022, Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose. Chapel service following at 4pm. Committal at George’s Creek Cemetery.

Kathy is survived by her husband John W. Pruitt, her son Clay Pruitt of Meridian, Tx, her daughter Megan Bise of Glen Rose, Tx, and her sister Shirley Hearne of Caldwell, Tx.

She is preceded in death by her sisters Marian Pearce and Marilyn Connor, her father Murl Simpson, and her mother Odell Simpson of Dickinson, Tx.

Kathy was born September 9, 1950, in Kenedy, Texas to Murl and Odell Simpson. She graduated from Dickinson High School and graduated from Sam Houston University with a Bachelor’s in Teaching. In 1971 she was Pi Kappa Alpha Dream Girl. She began her teaching career in Conroe, Texas, where she taught Elementary School, and then made her way to Glen Rose, Texas, where she taught Art, Special Ed, and classes ranging from 3rd to 6th grade. She retired in 2008 after 30 years of teaching.

She will always be remembered by her immense love for her family and students, her love to feed everyone, and her ever recognizable laughter.
