Kelly Wayne Mitchell, 76, went to be with the Lord on Friday evening, November 11, 2016, in Fort Worth.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Lakeside. Interment will follow in Ash Creek Cemetery in Azle. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Kelly Wayne Mitchell was born May 29, 1940, in Hobart, Oklahoma, to Robert and Dolly Mitchell. He grew up in Hobart and graduated from Hobart High School in 1958, after which he attended Texas Tech on scholarship for football, a sport that he truly loved.
Kelly married Carol Sue McWilliams on April 10, 1960, in Lubbock and raised two sons, Kirby and Casey, living in several cities in Texas.
Kelly was a systems engineer during his professional career and enjoyed his retirement years in Azle and, most recently, in Fort Worth.
Kelly was driven by a love for family and a devotion to church and Jesus Christ, our Lord. He was happiest with time he shared with his kids and grandkids and family. He led by an example of faith and strength.
Kelly was heartbroken at the passing of Carol after 54 years of marriage. But the sun rose again when he met JoAn Hale, fell in love, and married on August 15, 2015
Kelly was preceded in death by his parents and by his sister, Patricia Mitchell Scott.
Survivors include his wife of one year, JoAn Hale Mitchell; sons, Casey Mitchell and wife, LaChandra, of Fort Worth, Kirby Mitchell and wife, Cristina, of Coppell; sister, Ladonna Frye and husband, Jim, of Hobart, Oklahoma; brother-in-law, Curtis Scott of Lawton, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Robin Wilke and husband, Jacob Wilke, Austin and Keely Mitchell, Enrique, Heidy and Daniel De Los Santos; and many nieces and nephews.
