Kenneth Calvin Cox was born in Fort Worth, Texas on June 26, 1956 to Calvin and Marjorie Cox. He graduated from Comanche High School in 1974. Kenneth married his wife Marzell Cox in 1982 and made their home in Tolar, TX for 35 years before retiring and moving to the lake where they were closer to family.
Kenneth and Marzell met when they both worked at FMC in Stephenville. He worked as a machinist there for many years before primarily becoming a computer programmer at Bell Helicopter. There he drove a commuter van for years and was always ready to cut up and make jokes with his coworkers to and from work.
Kenneth’s love and dedication for Christ was in everything he did and said. He served for many years at Granbury Baptist Church as a trustee and in the security ministry. Recently, he made his home church at Pecan Baptist Church where he was head over the greeting committee and you could find him every Sunday morning with a smile on his face and a hand shake waiting for you.
Kenneth loved music and would turn on all varieties in his free time. Southern gospel was his favorite, and you could always find him watching videos of the Gaithers, and especially George Younce. But nothing compared to the love he had when listening to his children play and sing.
Kenneth had a lot of knowledge when it came to construction and working with his hands. He was willing to help in any way possible even without being asked. He spent his retirement helping family, neighbors and even strangers. He could help you build a house as well as plant a garden. There wasn’t any project that he didn’t have some sort of knowledge on.
Kenneth loved to laugh and joke around. His dad jokes were sometimes so cringe worthy you couldn’t help but laugh. He loved having his people around and especially his grandchildren who brought him joy. He was constantly thinking of new ways to make sure his grandkids were having fun and laughing. He southern engineered a zip line, swings, and slides in ways to make them laugh and have a good time. Also making sure they all knew how to fish; it was just the way he brought a smile to their face and showed his love for them.
Kenneth loved to have his family surround him especially when food was involved. He loved getting to fish and be able to have enough for a large fish fry. Family, food and playing the domino game 42 was his idea of a good evening. Kenneth touched so many people’s lives in both small and big ways. His constant willingness to lend a helping hand made him an asset in any community. His knowledge and skills have been valued by many, but his love for others will be deeply missed by everyone that knew him.
Kenneth passed away on October 17th, 2021. He is preceded in death by his father, Calvin Cox. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Cox, sisters Janet Garner and Marilyn Biggs and Brother Monty Cox. His wife Marzell Cox, and his children Le’Cretia and Denton Walker, Daniel and Christin Cox, Jacob and Kayla Cox, Nathan and Emyleigh Cox and Le’Shauna Cox as well as his 13 grandchildren.
