The service will be at 11:00 am, Monday, August 20, 2018 at Wiley Funeral Home Chapel; Interment following service at Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Monday.
Kent was born on September 12, 1945 in Princeton, Illinois to Francis and Verla (Marine) Pierceson of Yorktown, Illinois. They later moved to Prophetstown, Illinois where his father owned Pierceson Motors, a Ford Dealership.
His affinity for all things “Cowboy”, drew him to Texas as a young adult and later in his life when he moved his family from Wyoming to Benbrook for six years and eventually calling Granbury home for twenty-two years.
Kent proudly served his country in the United States Army. He married the love of his life, Gale Pearson on August 22, 1981 in Rockford, Illinois. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.
As a young boy he would spend as much time as he could at his Grandmother’s farm in Yorktown, Illinois riding his bike and later his Cushman scooter the 12 miles to get there. He loved his animals; his steer, horses, dogs and enjoyed hunting at the farm too. He belonged to the FFA in high school and won Reserve Grand Champion with his Hereford steer in Chicago, Illinois.
Besides animals, he also had 7 Corvettes that he enjoyed racing; which instilled a lifelong love of old vintage cars and trucks, which eventually grew to include Harley Davidsons and the freedom of the ride. Kent also loved rodeos and was a Registered Farrier and identified as a Cowboy “in spirit”.
Throughout his early adulthood, he had many jobs, but loved trucking and owned his own company for many years. Later, he worked for Conner Logistics (a division of Conner Industries), of Fort Worth. Texas as a Freight Broker. He logged over 1,000,000 miles in the course of his career. The time on the open road afforded him precious individual time with his children during their summer breaks from school.
He raised his children to be productive, responsible adults and parents, while stressing the importance of love for God and Country. He also closely identified with the Republican Party and was a staunch supporter!
On May 7, 2016, Kent had a Right Lung Transplant for IPF. After several set backs, he contracted 3 fungal infections, which eventually caused his death. He fought with his “Cowboy Spirit” until his time came. In his memory, please consider becoming an Organ Donor and helping to save someone’s life.
Kent is survived by his loving wife of almost 37 years; Gale Pierceson, his daughter Lindsay and son-in-law Shawn Roy of Granbury, TX; and his son Austin and daughter-in-law Talitha Pierceson of Kyle, TX; grandchildren; Bailey, Hunter and Carly Roy and Harper and Knox Pierceson; his brother D. Kraig Pierceson and wife Pat of Rockford, IL; sister-in-laws; Carol (Larry) Hayes, Pat (John) Versack; brother-in-laws; Ray (Sandy) Pearson, Glen (Patty) Pearson and many nieces and nephews.
