Laurel Pirkle

Laurel Pirkle, 74, passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018. Service: 10 A.M. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Granbury. Interment: Acton Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations to Lake Granbury Kiwanis Foundation, Inc., P. O. Box 1166, Granbury, TX 76048 or charity of choice are requested.

Laurel was born January 3, 1944 in Adamsville, AL to James Marshall and Virginia Howell Pirkle. He graduated from Southwest Texas State College with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree and graduated from East Texas State University with a Master of Business Administration degree. He was a State Farm insurance agent for 38 plus years. He married Carol Langley on December 12, 2012 in Granbury. Laurel was a member of First Baptist Church in Granbury and an instructor of Business at Weatherford College for 13 years. He started the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, 40 year member of the Kiwanis Club of Lake Granbury, Granbury City Counsel for 10 years, Planning and Zoning Commission for 15 years and the Granbury Municipal Utility Advisory Board. Laurel loved to go fly fishing in Colorado and collect Dr. Pepper, barber shop and gas and oil company memorabilia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Glenda Pirkle in 2007; and brothers, Gary and Mike Pirkle.

Survivors: Wife, Carol Pirkle; children, Laurie Moncivais and husband Ben, Kenna Riley and husband Todd, Jessica Miller; grandchildren, Caleb Moran, Joaquin Moncivais, Karrington Riley, Quinlan Riley; brother, Carl Pirkle and wife Elaine.
