GRANBURY — Lawrence Leo Gavlik, 75, passed away Friday, December 25, 2015 unexpectedly at his home in Granbury TX. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Lawrence was born July 16, 1940 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Alvin and Stasia (Drog) Gavlik. His family moved to Nebraska when he was 4 years old. He attended and graduated from St. Edward High School in 1960. Lawrence joined the U.S. Air Force in 1964 and served in Guam during the Vietnam War. His specialty was aircraft maintenance; he was charged with keeping the jet bombers on constant alert. Lawrence retired from the military in 1990 and from Bell Helicopter in 2002. He earned his pilot’s license in 1972 and enjoyed flying, traveling (especially cruises), camping, fishing and visiting with family and friends.
Lawrence is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and his brother Edward Gavlik
Survivors: Brother, Richard Govlik and wife Susan; sister, Nancy Delozier and husband Donald; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
