Lawrence “Larry” Vincent Butschek

Lawrence Vincent Butschek, known to most as Larry, was born on August 10, 1955 in Washington, D.C.  He went to be with our Lord, Jesus Christ on May 22, 2021.  He left the earth quickly and peacefully.  Our God is an Awesome God!

Larry grew up with parents, Edgar and Zina Butschek, and siblings, Toni Williamson and Mark Butschek.  Being in a military family, he moved around and lived in Virginia, Guam, and Dallas among others.  Larry attended Jesuit College Preparatory and then graduated Richardson High School in 1973.  He moved to Eagle Mountain in 1974.  He attended some trade schools and Tarrant County College.  Larry began volunteering at the Eagle Mountain Volunteer Fire Department around 1974.  He started his own company, Lawrence Yacht Service, in 1976 and incorporated in 1980.  Larry held various jobs over the years, working in the oil field, as a mechanic, General Manager at The Fort Worth Boat Club, etc. but always returned to the boat business.  He met Jill Willkie in 1976 and they became friends. Finally, Larry and Jill married in February of 1985.  They quickly started their family. Catherine, Lauren, Michael, and Taylor were his pride and joy.  They all were homeschooled, and many could often see Larry with one of them on the job.  He taught them many important things on the road about life and business. The precious time he spent with them paid off.  Scouting was also an important part of Larry’s time with his children.  He believed that the Scouting movement instilled character and leadership skills that would make them better. All four of them earned the highest awards that a Scout can earn.  One Eagle Scout and three Gold Award recipients. He enjoyed many camp outs and cookouts with many youths, always talking to them about what they needed to do be a good person and respect others.

Besides Larry’s love for his family, he always had a four-legged companion. Barron, Max, and Bear were his faithful companions throughout his life.  He visited so many places and everyone enjoyed seeing his four-legged friends as much as they did Larry.

Larry and Jill built up his business and expanded to A+ Boat Lifts, Inc., Boat Hoist Services, LLC., J&L Boat & RV Storage, LLC. He has been recognized as a Top 5 Dealer for Hydro Hoist Boat Lifts consistently for almost two decades.  He could not have done this without the help of his friends, especially Rex.

Larry and Jill became members of the Fort Worth Boat Club in 1992.  He made lifelong friends on the lake.  He loved boats and sailing.  In recent years, he spent time with friends restoring boats on the Pig Farm and sailing in regattas on Double Dare.  He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, especially sneaking chocolate before dinner.  He always said that if he died tomorrow, he will have lived a full and happy life.

Survived by Jill Butschek (spouse) and children – Catherine Butschek and Chris Crowley, Lauren Butschek-Neisler and Lee Neisler, Micheal and Lark Butschek, and Taylor and Eric Lotz.  Grandchildren – Jillian Neisler, Hayden Neisler, Katelyn Neisler, Alexander Lotz, John Lotz, Jason Butschek, and Jet Butschek.  Mother-in-law, Madonna Willkie. Sister and Brother-in-Law, Toni and Sam Williamson, Brother and Sister-in-Law, Mark and Barbe Butschek and many other relatives and close friends. Beloved dog, Baron “Bear”, and peacock, Elvis.

Preceded in death by parents, Edgar and Zina Butschek, and father-in-law, Edward Willkie.
