Lelan C. Day, 76, of Granbury, devoted husband to Sue C. (Suzie) Day died at his home on Monday, December 12, 2016.

Visitation: 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Friday, December 16, 2016, Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury, Texas.
Lelan was born on October 19, 1940 to Walter F. Day and Robbie Beth Day in Waco, Texas. Lelan and his sister Linda Kay Day were raised primarily in the towns of Dickinson and Kopperl, Texas. Lelan married Jimmie M. Hall and became proud parents of three children: Lelan C. Day, Jr, Tina M. Day (Earl) and Tammi L. Day (Harper). Lelan later married Jane Bishop and was dad to child Jana. Lelan then married Sue C. (Suzie) in January 1988 and Dad to children Robert and Craig Hinson.
Lelan served 20 years in the United States Air Force 1960-1980. During his military service he took great pride in being selected to serve as a Crew Chief for the Presidential Wing at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland from 1970-1976. Lelan earned two Air Force Commendation Medals, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, Air Force Longevity Service Ribbon, National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award, and the Air Force Good Conduct Medal. He worked on B-58 and B-52 aircraft.
After retiring from the Air Force he worked at General Dynamics/Lockheed Martin as a Quality Insurance Inspector for 10 years.
Hobbies included dancing with Suzie, fishing, competition target shooting with muzzleloading black powder rifles and pistols, and coin collecting. He operated a flea market business primarily at Treasure Island in Fort Worth and a Waterless Car Wash home-based business.
Lelan has been a dedicated member of The American Legion Post 491 for 16 years. He took pride in volunteering for special events, most notably cooking Saturday breakfast with Suzie, and where he has very special friendships with many.
He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and son Robert Hinson.
Survivors: Wife Sue Day (Suzie); sister Linda K. Day (Lyon); son Lelan Jr., wife Julie and their children Irene, Michael, and Nathan; daughter Tina, husband Tony, and their children Tasha, Tara, and Duane; daughter Tammi, husband Mike, and their children Amanda and Megan; son Craig, his wife Cindy, and their children Leslie, Brandon, and Sarah; aunt Jean Mitchell; uncle Harold (Bud) Kitchens; and numerous cousins.
