Longtime Dickinson resident Leon Lorz, 67, passed away on December 22nd, 2020 surrounded by family in Granbury TX. Leon was the owner of Professional Printing for 32 years and The Coin Vault for 15 years.
Leon was born in Fargo, ND on May 2, 1953. He graduated from the ND State School of Science in Wahpeton, ND with a degree in Graphic Arts. He moved to Dickinson, ND and worked for Jake’s Speed Printing. There he met the love of his life, Debbie, and they were married in 1982. In 1986 he opened Professional Printing, which he owned until he retired. Leon always had a love of coins and opened The Coin Vault in 2003. He also had a passion for antique cars and street rods. He was able to restore numerous cars before his health no longer allowed him to do so. Leon was an impulsive online shopper, who left plenty of stuff (including a cannon) behind for his wife, who has no idea what to do with it all! He was a member of the Prairie Cruiser Car Club for many years. Leon was also very supportive of Home on the Range, where he served, with pride, on their board of directors.
Leon was plagued with numerous health problems most of his life, which he handled with great dignity and an, “I can beat this” attitude. Unfortunately, Covid-19 was one thing he could not beat.
Leon was able to retire to Texas in 2018. He definitely did not miss the snow and cold of North Dakota, but he did miss his family and many friends there. He loved the wonderful weather in Texas.
The last time Leon was in church was 39 years ago on his wedding day, but he was so fortunate to become a member of Granbury Baptist Church in Texas. He attended church almost every Sunday for 2 years and ended up having an amazing church family for which he was extremely grateful. He always joked that “hell” must have frozen over for him to be in church. Finally, he will be able to be free from pain in the arms of Jesus.
Leon was a kind, generous, loving person with a great sense of humor. He enjoyed teasing his family and friends. He will be sorely missed by his beloved wife, Debbie; daughters: Julie (Stacy), Casey and Micah (David); granddaughters: McKenna, Amaya, Remmi, Piper, Madison, and Vivian; his beloved fur babies Tinker and Snickers; his mother Kathleen, brother Steve (Peggy), sister Debbie (Craig), nephew & nieces: Michael (Stephanie), Michelle, Jessica, Stephanie, and Tracy; and his many friends & car buddies & church family. Rest in Peace, dearest Leon, until we are together again.
Memorial Services were held at Granbury Baptist Church, Granbury, TX at 3:00 pm on Monday, December 28, 2020, Under the direction of Wiley Funeral Home, Granbury.
