Lionel lived a full life raising a close family. He was a devoted follower of Christ and led his family as such, always a loving husband and father. Lionel served for eight years in the National Guard while starting his family in Missouri. After thirty years of dedication to the City of Fort Worth Water Department, he retired and went to work on his Doctorate in Ministry with emphasis in Biblical Counseling. He loved spending time with his family and seven grandchildren. His spare time was spent working in the garden and tending to his land.
Lionel was preceded in death by his parents and his wife of thirty years, Sherry Darnell Bland.
He is survived by his wife of sixteen years Lori Bland, son Troy Bland, and daughter, April Karr and her husband, Jared Karr; seven grandchildren; brother Leland Bland, and many sister/brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews.
