Lois Young, devoted wife, mother and friend, died peacefully and joined the Lord on Thursday, December 8, 2016.

Lois was born in Fort Worth on April 21, 1931, to Mr. and Mrs. Seth H. Pittman Sr. Lois’s older brother, Seth Jr., was a marine, who she completely adored. A young woman of great beauty inside and out, she was voted Homecoming Queen her senior year at North Side High School. She soon met the love of her life, James Reed Young, a North Side graduate who was on a track scholarship at North Texas State University. They were happily married in March of 1951.
Lois was a devoted mother of two sons, Rod C. Young of Fort Worth and Robert B. Young of Waco, and one daughter, Shellie D. Young of Austin. Lois was a member of Haltom Road Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher among other duties.
Despite a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis in her thirties, Lois maintained a joyful and positive light to all those around her and rarely complained. She loved everyone she met with sincere interest, and she embraced life with a generous and open heart. Lois was especially fond of animals, children, gardening, Christmas, and all things that sparkled. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Seth H. Pittman Sr., and her brother, Seth Pittman Jr.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 65 years, James R. Young; loving sons, Rod C. Young and Robert Bruce Young; her loving daughter, Shellie Young Rowe; other family survivors, Bob and Ana Beth Young; many loving nieces and nephews.
