Lonnie Nolan Getts, 89, passed away peacefully, Saturday, May 30, 2015, after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Committal will be at 1:15 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
The family requests memorials to the The Wounded Warrior Project.
Lonnie was born to Arthusa and James M. Getts. He was a decorated sharpshooter of World War II. He was wounded in a battle while in Germany and received a Purple Heart and other medals. He retired from LTV, now Lockheed-Martin, Grand Prairie, after 37 years of service. He had made his home in Joshua for many years, then moved to Cumby, and most recently lived in Weatherford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maudie Getts; brother, James Getts; half-brothers, Albert Getts, Arthur Getts and Otis Getts; and half-sister, Verna Getts.
Lonnie is survived by his children, Brenda Spradlin and husband, Mike, of Azle, Robert Getts of Arlington, and Karen Fuller and husband, Kirk, of Springtown; sister, Gladys Clark of Eagletown, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Tonya Messick of Houston, Micheal Daniels and wife, Jennifer, of Nevada City, California, Jeffrey Spradlin and fiancee, Katie, of Denton, and Emily Spradlin of Fort Worth; great-grandchildren, Hunter Daniels, Alex Daniels and Piper Daniels; a great-great-granddaughter expected in August; numerous nieces and nephews.
