Mae Belle “Mabel” Crist, 86, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016, in Fort Worth.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 27, in Biggers Funeral Chapel. Committal will be at 3:00 p.m. at Hico Cemetery in Hico. The family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Doug Casas, Brad Simpson, Joseph Casas, Jeffrey Casas, Justin Casas, Clint Williams, and Jakeb Hamilton.
Mabel was born March 31, 1929 to Andrew Jackson Barbee and Bessie Usry Barbee in Old Glory, Texas. She graduated from Old Glory High School in Old Glory, and settled in Fort Worth in 1984. She married the love of her life, her husband of 32 years, Harroll Troupe Crist of Hico, on December 22, 1948, and devoted herself to her family. Mabel had owned businesses in Odessa and Pampa, then retired from Wal-Mart at the age of 82.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harroll Crist; a son, Tommie Crist; brother, A.J. Barbee; and sisters, Vivian Hunt and Dempsey Nail.
Mrs. Crist is survived by daughters, Lydia Simpson of Fort Worth, and Pat Casas of Odessa; son-in-law, Joe Casas of Odessa; daughter-in-law, Linda Crist of Azle; sister-in-law, Priscilla Barbee of Odessa; two granddaughters, Megon Simpson of Fort Worth, and Kristi Williams of Odessa; five grandsons, Doug Casas of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brad Simpson of Fort Worth, Joseph Casas of Alvin, Jeffrey Casas of Odessa and Justin Casas of San Antonio; fifteen great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many friends.
