Maria Beatrice Martinez

Maria Beatrice Martinez entered Heaven on September 28, 2021 after battling Covid-19.

The third of four children, Maria was born on May 20, 1953, to Enriqueta and Juan Martinez in Pharr, Texas. She was later raised by her mother and stepfather, Rosendo Vega.

Life was not kind and sometimes cruel to Maria. She became a mother at a young age and suffered through personal tragedies. Unable to cope, process trauma and anger, she was not the nicest person to those who loved her most. Maria’s harsh love is what bred two strong daughters, Carmen and Mindy, and three fearless sons, Joe, Lupe, and Jaime. She was remorseful for her mistakes and wished she could have been the mother her children deserved.

One day, she gave it all to Jesus and left it at his feet. She let go of the pain, trauma, anger, and embraced his love and forgiveness. Maria was thankful for the person she no longer was and embraced the kind, loving, humble person she had become.

Not everyone got to see and experience the loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she became. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly fortunate that they received the very best of her.

She is described as beautiful, a spitfire, protector, confidant, and comforter by her family. She loved to laugh and make others laugh, dance, be the center of attention, cook meals for her family, and play Loteria (it’s annoying how many times she won).

Maria’s life started out hard but ended beautifully. She will always be so loved and missed by her family. Their worlds won’t be the same without her in it.

Preceded in death by her mother, Enriqueta Vega and her dad, Juan Martinez; brother Raymundo Martinez; and great-grandchildren, Emerson Trejo and Jonah-Eli Haydon.

Maria is survived by her five children, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, father, siblings, nieces and nephews.
