GLEN ROSE — Mary Joyce Dean Adams, 91, passed away Sunday, April 3, 2016 in Glen Rose.
Service: 2 p.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Glen Rose.
Interment: Rock Church Cemetery.
Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Wiley Funeral Home in Glen Rose.
Memorials can be sent to Missions at First Baptist Church or Wayland Baptist University.
Mary was born July 12, 1924 in Plainview to Ernest “Bull” and Mabel Wayland. She was the grand daughter of Dr. Wayland of Wayland Baptist University. She worked for 50 years, mostly for the federal government. Mary owned and helped build a private airport in Austin called “The Bird’s Nest,” which is now Austin Executive Airport. From 1979 to 1999, she faithfully cared for her mother, who lived at home and reached the golden age of 109. She was very involved in church, political and community activities.Mary was very creative and talented. She pored love and prayer into her works of art. She also loved music and every kind of beauty. She created a prayer garden that people used and enjoyed for over 30 years and had a tribute museum dedicated to her Heavenly Father and earthly father. She enjoyed her yard, flowers, First Baptist Church, mission trips, helping with youth camp and Bible School and sharing the truth of her Heavenly Father. So many people from so many generations have been inspired and blessed and prayed for by her. To her dying day she was praying for and blessing others!
Survivors: Much loved former brother-in-law, Rudy Meyers and companion, Beverly Rainbolt; Nieces, Suzanne Adams Carter and husband, David and children: Tralissa Carter Griffin and husband David, Jennifer Carter Ralston and husband James, Amy Carter Myers and husband Jay; Cynthia Adams Armour and husband Liebert (deceased) and children: Phillip Armour and wife Mindy, Deborah Armour, Beth Armour Armstrong and husband Chris; nephew, Sandy (W.G.) Adams (deceased) and wife, Sharon and children: Loretta Adams, Sandra Adams Whitfield and husband Moose, Ernest Adams, Wayland G. Adams, III and Chelsae Hay, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and a host of close loving friends.
