DECORDOVA — Mary Lou Price Coleman died August 15, 2013 at her home. Service: 10:30 AM, Friday, August 23, 2013, First Christian Church, Granbury.
She was born May 20, 1932 in Olney, Texas. She graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth in 1950. She attended TCU, the University of Houston, and graduated with honors from Howard Payne College in 1975. She was involved with her children in PTA, Girl Scouts, and church and community activities too numerous to count. While in Brownwood, she was Vice-Chairperson of the Brown County Republican Party.
Mary Lou participated fully in life until recently when her illness curtailed engagement with family and friends, church and community. She was the quintessential wife, mother and grandmother, enriching and encouraging each family member to find and live in her or his unique gifts. Mary Lou’s personal gifts, grace, laughter, and love will be truly missed by all who loved her.
A plaque given her on Mother’s Day, 1984 demonstrates the love and esteem in which she was held by her family: “Presented to the Mother, Mary Lou Price Coleman, on Mother’s Day, May 13, 1984: -who has loved us and taught us to love others, -who has counseled us and kept us interested in all pursuits of life, -who has shown us by her example about Theology, citizenship, politics, and the Good Samaritan, and -who has been our very best friend!”
Her parents preceded her in death, Mary Ellen and William Eugene “Gene” Price.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Rogers K. Coleman, M.D., three children: Pamela Jean Travis and her husband, Father Douglas Travis; Candace Stroup; and Chris Coleman and his wife, Jenny. She is also survived by her brother, William Harold Price, eight grandchildren, Megan Stroup and her husband Ugur Sener, Alexandra Travis and her fianc
