Marylene Crick Smith, 68 of Granbury, Texas, went home to be with her Lord on Monday July 6, 2020.  Funeral Service:  10:30 A.M. Friday July 10, 2020 at Lakeside Baptist Church, Granbury; Interment:  Acton Cemetery. The service will be live streamed on lakesidebc.org

Marylene was born on May 14, 1952 in Fort Worth, Texas; the daughter of Charles and Dora Crick. She married the love of her life, William Donald Smith, December 18, 1980, he passed away January 6, 2006. She loved her family and always had friends.

Marylene graduated from Northside High School in 1970, she then went on to Baylor University graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1974. Marylene enjoyed her career teaching for 20 years at FWISD and Crowley ISD.

Marylene loved to travel and read murder mysteries. She had a fondness for books. She was a longtime member of Lakeside Baptist Church where she volunteered for the outreach missions’ program such as: Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry, Church Library and Caring Hearts Ministry. She also volunteered at Friends of the Hood County Library.  She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law.

Marylene is survived by her son:  Chad Smith; daughter:  Chelsea Derry and husband Donavan; granddaughter:  Adeline Grace Derry; sister:  Dora Charlene Lawson; nieces and nephews:  Whitney and Chip Lawson, Kevin Lykins and wife Rachel, Joe Lykins and wife Susan, Kate Simpson and husband Cliff, Kent Smith; great nieces and nephews including Hannah Lackmeyer and Lauren Lykins.

Funeral Arrangements handled by Wiley Funeral Home.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Lakeside Baptist Church Loaves and Fishes or Friends of the Library, Hood County.

Don and Marylene were good friends of ours from NFWBC when Chad was little and before Chelsea. Marylene was always so much fun to be around and I can still see her smile and hear her laugh. I’m sure she’s laughing and singing alto in God’s choir now.

Marylene, my sweet, sweet wonderful friend! We spent time together almost every week, having a little lunch or just a short visit! As I continued to visit her and make many special memories in her last months we played Yahtzee and went outside on walk! Her last sweet words were, “ yeah here comes my best friend” and that she was to me”. A lovely lady with a heart of gold and a very funny sense of humor! To know her was to love her!
