Maxine Brazelton Smith, 94, passed from this life on Thursday, October 25, 2018.

Maxine was born May 1, 1924 in Olney, Young County, Texas to William Franklin and Bertha May Brooks Brazelton. She met William G. Smith at a church singing at the Riverside Church of Christ. Bill soon went to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington DC where they were married on November 8, 1942 at the 14th Street Church of Christ. They returned to Fort Worth in the fall of 1943.
Maxine worked in downtown Fort Worth at Striplings Department Store for 3 years. After Striplings closed she worked as the water clerk for the City of Lake Worth for 15 years.
She was a long-time member of the North Side Church of Christ, and was also active in the city of Lake Worth working at elections, the Lake Worth schools as a room mother for her children, and served as President and lifetime member of the Parent Teachers Association. Maxine volunteered with her daughters’ Camp Fire groups and her sons’ Cub Scout and Boy Scout activities. She kept a jigsaw puzzle going and enjoyed working crossword puzzles daily. She was an excellent cook, a whiz at the sewing machine, enjoyed working in the yard and making crafts. She loved her home and was able to live in her own home until the end.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters; her husband William G. Smith; and daughter-in-law, Kathy Smith.
Survivors: include her children, Phil Smith of Granbury, George Smith and wife, Sharon of Fort Worth, Connie Dotson and husband, Robert of Fort Worth, Gail Towe and husband, Tom of Richardson; brother, William Franklin Brazelton Jr. and wife, Pat of Fort Worth; 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
