Maxwell “Nig” G. Durant

GRANBURY — Maxwell G. Durant, 87, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015.
Service: 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wiley Funeral Home. Interment: Holly Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Maxwell was born July 14, 1928, in Mitchell Bend to Alfred Reece Durant and Velma Ratliff Durant. He married Christine Carter on Sept. 21, 1957, in Durant, Okla. He lived his entire life in Granbury and was a member of Acton Baptist Church. He served in the U.S. Air Force and was the owner and operator of a heavy-equipment company. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He loved sports, especially baseball, football and basketball. He also enjoyed fishing, especially grappling, hunting, gardening, playing dominoes and a game of Rook.
Maxwell was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 18, 2012; his parents; four brothers; and two sisters.
Survivors: Daughters, Jo Ruth Sandel and Christie Hewson and husband, Harvey; son, Windell Durant and wife, Brenda; grandchildren, Cody Norman, Lee Norman, Tiffany Hargroves, Bryan Hewson, Samantha Zachary, Johnny Bassham and Debbie McGlynn; great-grandchildren, Tristan Hargroves, Teagen Hargroves, Julia Norman and Phillip Edge; brother, Gene Durant; and numerous nieces and nephews.
