Melvin Charles “Chuck” or “Charlie” Grisham, age 74, passed away, with his children by his side, on April 4, 2017 following a courageous battle with ALS.
A committal service with military honors will be at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. For those wishing to attend, please arrive by 10:00 a.m. in Lane C in order to prepare for the procession to the honor guard departing promptly at 10:30 a.m.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the ALS Foundation for Life, or the ALS Association.
Charles was born in Fort Worth, Texas on September 14, 1942 to Melvin and Ruth Swearengen Grisham. Both his parents and his brother, Billy, preceded him in death.
Charles served with honor and distinction in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. Following his service he studied at, and was a graduate of Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. Following a 40 year career at Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport, he happily settled into retirement where he remained very active with friends and family enjoying exercise, dancing, bridge, and yoga. He was actively involved in his community senior center and was described as a faithful member of St. Philip Presbyterian Church by his pastor, Greg Garis. He was a loving son, father, grandfather, husband, and friend. Although generally a reserved and quiet man, his mischievous grin, sense of humor and infectious laughter were a joy. He is already and will forever be missed.
Charles is survived by his son, Charles Keith and wife, Brooke of Dallas; his daughter, Ashley Barbeau and her husband, Sean of McKinney; his grandchildren, Ainsley and Jack Barbeau; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
