Melvin “Mel” Mullins, 87, passed away on Saturday, May 4, 2019. Service: 11:00 AM, Friday, May 10, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home Chapel, Glen Rose, Lie In State: 12:00 noon to 7:00 PM, Thursday, May 9, 2019, Wiley Funeral Home, Glen Rose.
Mel was born on April 25, 1932 in Thackerville, Oklahoma to Jack and Loretta Mullins. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a dedicated Fort Worth Police Officer for 27 years. He was also a licensed barber.
Mel married his wife, Betty on May 24, 1984 in Glen Rose, Texas. He cherished his family and he loved them dearly. One of his favorite things was playing his steel guitar.
Mel was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Thelma Johnson and a brother, Robert H. Mullins.
Mel is survived by his wife: Betty Mullins of Brazos Point, children: Michael Melvin Mullins and wife DeeAnna, Mark Steven Mullins and wife Karen, Jeffrey Lynn Mullins and wife Margaret, Randy Bruce and wife Tina, and Pam Pogue and husband Mark, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, siblings: Emma Lou French, Glenn Mullins and wife Lanita, Wayne Mullins and wife Janice, Juanita McAdoo, Joan Wilson and husband James and Raymond Mullins.
