Michael Van Alvey, 72, passed away on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. Graveside service: 10:00 AM, Friday, July 20, 2018, Holly Hills Memorial Park, Visitation: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Thursday, July 19, 2018, Martin’s Funeral Home, Granbury.
Mike was born on November 30, 1945 in Big Spring, Texas to Walter and Geraldine Alvey. He was well liked, popular and a very talented athlete throughout his adolescent years. Mike proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. He attended Texas Tech University.
Mike was a huge sports fan, and the Dallas Cowboys and the Red Raiders were his favorite teams. He was a Nationally Ranked Shuffle Board Player and he loved to play the game. He was also a horse race enthusiast.
Mike owned and operated a real estate appraisal firm in Granbury for over 15 years. He was preceded in death by his father: Walter Alvey; sister: Zana Mayfield and his beloved dog: Blue.
Michael is survived by his daughters: Jodi Fries and husband Toby, and Casey Penn and husband Scott; mother: Geraldine Alvey; brother: Ron Alvey and wife Betty and extended family.
