Myrna Dobbins

November 24, 1939 - January 28, 2014

GRANBURY — Retired teacher Myrna Loy (Crelia) Dobbins, 74, of Granbury, Texas passed away in her sleep on January 28, 2014.
Funeral: 10:00 a.m. Friday at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury. Burial: 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 31, 2014, at Little Bethel Cemetery in Duncanville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wiley Funeral Home.
Memorials: Memorial gifts can be made in Myrna’s honor to the Scleroderma Foundation or the Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension Organization.
Myrna touched the lives of countless students during her more than 30 years as a first and second-grade teacher at Alexander Elementary in Duncanville, Texas.
She was known for her boundless energy, love of children and gentle approach to education.
She retired in 1998, and soon thereafter moved to Granbury, where she and Lynn lived for the remainder of her life.
She graduated from Weatherford High School in 1957. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from University of Texas Arlington and a master’s degree from Stephen F. Austin.
Myrna was lifetime member of the Texas State Teacher’s Association. She was also a member of the Pecan Plantation Women’s Club and Bunco group and the PTL class at Lakeside Baptist Church in Granbury. She loved family, travel, church, good food and playing cards with friends and family.
Survivors: She is survived by Lynn Dobbins, her high-school sweetheart and husband of almost 56 years; son Terry Dobbins, Jeanette Dobbins and grandson Troy Dobbins, of Waxahachie, Texas; son Steve Dobbins and Jason Leon of Austin, Texas; and sister, Barnita Simpson of Millsap, Texas.
