Granbury, TX – Naomi Birdwell McDonald went home to be with her Lord on June 27, 2018 in Granbury,TX. Visitation will be Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 3 – 5 pm at Wiley Funeral Home in Granbury, TX. Graveside service will be Monday, July 2, 2018 at 11 am at Forest Park Cemetery, Shreveport, Louisiana.
Naomi was born Aug. 27, 1935 in Shreveport, Louisiana where she lived with her parents, the late Dr. Jack and Alleyne Birdwell. She graduated from Byrd High School in 1953. After graduation she attended Newcomb College in New Orleans and earned a BA Degree in English. She married the late Dr. Zeus McDonald and they had six children. In 2002, Naomi moved to Ft. Worth TX. and has resided in Granbury, TX since 2013. She fought a hard battle with Alzheimer’s Disease the last 5 years of her life. She never gave up and always had a smile on her face.
Naomi was an active member of Normandale Baptist Church in Ft. Worth. She worked in the nursery, went on several mission trips to Mexico and helped in the church kitchen. Naomi loved people and never met a stranger. She loved life and loved Jesus. She will be missed deeply by those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sister: Jackie Quinn.
Naomi is survived by her children: Pam Tullos and husband Mike, Randy McDonald, Frank McDonald, Diane Skinner and husband Larry, Mike McDonald and wife Pam, and David McDonald and wife Angie, twelve grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and brother-in-law: Ben Quinn.
