GRANBURY — Wilfred O’Neil Allen passed away February 10, 2015 at the age of 74.
Funeral: Services will be at Triple Cross Cowboy Church in Granbury, Texas on Friday, February 13th at 10:00 a.m. with burial at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 14th, in the Whiteface, Texas, City Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Triple Cross Cowboy Church.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made either to Cancer Care or the Hood County Livestock Raisers Association.
He was born January 8, 1941 in Graham, Texas, the second son of J.W. and Leila Allen. He graduated high school from Whiteface, Texas in 1959. After graduation, he served in the U.S. Army with the 2nd Armored Division in Germany from 1960 – 1962. After returning to Texas, he worked for Dick Lowe on various ranches and then became a lineman for Southwestern Public Service.
Neil married Bea Cochran of Aspermont, Texas in 1966. He was hired by Tri-County Electric Co-op in Azle, Texas three years later. In 1971, he opened the Tri-County Electric Co-op office in Granbury and served as District Manager until his retirement in 2003. Neil and his family made their home in Granbury for 43 years. He was a member of Granbury Lions Club, Hood County Livestock Raisers, Lake Granbury Chamber of Commerce, Granbury Optimist Club, a board member of the Shanley House, County Democratic Party Chairman, President of the Pirate Booster Club, and board member and past president of the Hood/Somervell County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife Bea, sons Nick and James, daughter-in-law Allison, grandson Sam, granddaughter Morgan, sister Suzanne Lewis and husband Jim, sister-in-law Margaret Allen, brother-in-law Steve Cochran and wife Eileen, brother-in-law Johnny Cochran and wife Lajuana, and various nieces and nephews.
