Lt. Col. Neal Joseph Harrington, U.S.A.F. (Ret) passed Saturday, January 28, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Febuary 6, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Azle. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be private with full military honors at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Catholic Charities USA.
Neal was born, October 13, 1934 in Boston, Massachusetts. After attending the University of Massachusetts, he joined the U.S. Air Force. In his 24 years of service, he received many medals and commendations for his outstanding service to our country. After retiring from the service in 1980, he relocated to Azle, Texas where he enjoyed fellowship at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church of Azle, Texas. When he was not at home or church, Neal could be found at his favorite pub sharing “cradic” with locals. Many friends will remember those cold March days and fresh hot corned beef when they attended the Harrington’s Annual St. Patrick’s Day party.
He will be missed by all.
Neal was preceded by his wife of 47 years, Virginia Nolte Harrington and his son, Martin Joseph Harrington.
Neal is survived by his immediate family including Maureen Childress of League City, Kathleen Dennis of Lansdale, Pennsylvania, Susanne Goldblatt of Ft. Worth; his three grandchildren, Ian, 14, Benjamin 13, Samantha, 13; and many loving friends.
