Granbury– Norman Alton Sylvia, 81, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2016.
Private services will be held at a later date.
Norman was a proud Veteran of the US Navy and served during the Korean War. He was a Tin Can Sailor and a Shellback and sailed around the world on his beloved ships the USS Charles H. Roan and USS McGowan. He played lead bugle in the US Navy Band. Norman served in the Civil Air Patrol and in the Merchant Marines. He was a Master Painter and carpenter. He was a giving person, always the first to respond when others needed help. He spoiled the love of his life, Rosella, with things she enjoyed using in the kitchen. He loved spending time on the front porch that he built and nick-named “Fort Picket”. He was often mistaken for Peter Falk (Columbo).
Norman is survived by his wife of 44 years: Rosella Sylvia, sons: Norman Sylvia, Jr., Mark Sylvia, Cleve Wilson, and John Albert, sister: Harriett Correia, brother: Cleve Sylvia, multiple grandchildren, nieces and nephews, adopted family member: Phyllis Edans, close best friends: Charlie and Suzie Smith and Judy Hoyler.
