Orval Ross Weaks passed away in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 6, 2016 in Abilene, Texas.
Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday morning, June 9, 2016, at Lanham Mill Cemetery near Glen Rose, Texas.
Ross was born on May 18, 1928 to A. H. (Lonnie) and Nellie Wilson Weaks in Swisher County, Texas. He grew up in the Glen Rose area where he later farmed his own land and did custom work for other farmers. Upon the passing of his parents, he made his home in Trent, Texas west of Abilene. In addition to his farming activities, he also drove both short-haul and long-haul trucks which allowed him to visit many areas of the country. Ross had an affinity for all things mechanical and he maintained all of his own equipment.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother Leland Weaks; sister and brother-in-law, Violet and C. E. Garrison; and sister and brother-in-law, Ava and Don Shimkus. He is survived by his nieces and nephews and their families: Larry and Elaine Smith, Corinne Davis, Chrys and Tim Weyer, Zane and Brandee Orr, and twenty four great and great-great nieces and nephews. His family is richer because of his kind heart, sense of humor, and oft told stories of bygone days.
