I admired my friend so dearly. Her passion for our rough riders radiated her everyday. I first met my beautiful friend at Wayside. We are both original SHS rough riders. I am so blessed to have been your friend. Norman and Elizabeth, I am praying for you both. I love you, Ona Winders!

I am so sorry I will be unable to attend the viewing or services. I have just recently moved close to Brenham. Ona was a very special person. She wore so many hats throughout the years. Confidante, mentor, teacher, assistant principal, wife, and mother. Elizabeth and Norm, you are in my prayers, and I hope you find peace and comfort in knowing she loved you both dearly. While teaching at Wayside and working on my masters degree in administration, I had the privilege of getting to shadow her and learn from her. We spent several Saturday mornings together working school detention and had good talks. The last time I I saw her which was last fall, she asked me to help her out of the chair as she said her back was hurting. I hated seeing her in pain. I will always remember her big smile and big heart for kids. Elizabeth I am glad I got to have you as a student in my class as well and I am praying for you and your family.
